Tom & Susie Jones serve First Assembly as lead pastors. Tom has been in pastoral ministry for more than twenty-five years. He has pastored Newport First Assembly since January, 2009, but pastored here previously from 1995-2002. He is an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God, with certificates in ministry from Global University. He is a native of Newport with a lifetime connection to First Assembly. Tom holds a Master's degree in Adult Education from the University of Arkansas. Tom believes the Lord has called them to bi-vocational ministry. He is the department chairperson for the UAMS Department of Respiratory and Surgical Technologies Program in the College of Health Professions in Little Rock. He also maintains clinical practice as a Registered Respiratory Therapist.
Susie maintains a professional career as a bookkeeper, but her greatest joy is spending time with her family, ministering to women one on one and serving the Lord through prayer and "whatever her hands find to do"! Her outgoing personality quickly opens the door for some great conversations!

Melisssa Lore is First Assembly's Student Pastor. She has a passion to reach middle school, junior high and high schools students for Christ. Whether it's in a fun-filled, Word-infused and worship-driven night in G-FORCE Youth, eating lunch on campus with the students or in a late night counseling session with a troubled teen, Melissa gives it ALL for ministry to students inside and outside the church. Melissa sings on the worship team, arranges fellowship meals on Wednesday night and team-teaches student discipleship classes with her husband, Dennis. Melissa has completed her first year of study in the Arkansas School of Minstry and will soon receive her Certificate of Ministry.

Beth Walker has served as First Assembly's children's church director for many years. She and her husband, Richard operate a family farm. She also works for a local physician as an office assistant. Her love for children, "my kids" as she calls them, is a God-given compassion for children and students - regardless of age or ability. Sunday's and Wednesday's often find her in the nursery caring for infants and toddlers, teaching the new FAITH CASE curriculum in Children's Church, and often taking some of the kids home for a fun afternoon in the Walker's kitchen or out on the farm. All the kids LOOOOOOVE Ms. Beth!!

Jim Gatlin serves First Assembly as the business administrator and worship leader. Jim has an extensive background in finance and business. He and his wife, Shirley, also serve the Lord by teaching Bible classes and marriage classes. Jim strives to provide a balanced approach to worship that includes hymns, classic worship music and contemporary praise & worship selections, mixed with God's Word to make the worship experience meaningful for everyone. Don't worry about his excessive love for Alabama football or rooting for the ASU Red Wolves...he hates the Razorbacks, but he loves the Lord! ROLL TIDE!
