We know that choosing a church home can be a difficult decision. You may be looking to find a place to develop relationships; for a pastor who preaches relevant Biblical messages; for a church that will minister to your entire family; or a worship experience that honors God in heartfelt devotion.
Whatever your reasons, we believe the Holy Spirit can minister to you and your family no matter where you find yourself on life's journey. When you attend First Assembly, you can expect to find a church where you are loved and where people really care for one another. It doesn't matter what you wear or where you're from - there's always room for you here.
We've tried to anticipate some of the questions you may have before coming to First Assembly for the first time. If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact us.
WHEN SHOULD I ARRIVE?
First Assembly's facilities are modest. The sanctuary and classes are conveniently located in one building. We encourage you to arrive a few minutes before the service times to be greeted by the Pastor and find a comfortable place in the sanctuary or class.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
If you are comfortable in your jeans or if you desire to wear a suit, the choice is yours! We are more interested in you connecting with God and our church family than what you are wearing.
WILL I BE SINGLED OUT?
Absolutely not! We want you to be as comfortable as possible in the services without fearing you may be singled out in any way. You'll receive a guest packet with information about the church, and the pastor will likely welcome "all our guests", but you will not be asked to stand, introduce yourself or be embarrassed in any way. If you happen to join us during a special service, fellowship or small group session you are encouraged to stay and participate.
WHAT ABOUT MY CHILDREN?
Kids are a vital part of ministry at First Assembly. We have a nursery for infants and toddlers staffed by loving attendants. Our classes are divided to minister to students during Sunday School and in Children's Church during the worship service. Your children will receive Biblical teaching and instruction on their level.
WHAT ABOUT THE WORSHIP SERVICE?
Our worship team strives to produce a unique complement of music that can minister to every generation while encouraging everyone to worship together. Worship may include jubilant praise, quiet contemplation, private and collective prayer, laying on of hands for special prayer, celebration of Communion and sharing of needs. We rejoice with those who share exciting testimonies, and we pray with those who are seeking God to meet their needs.
You're encouraged to participate in every part of the worship as you feel comfortable and in a way that allows you to express yourself to the Lord: you're welcome to stand, remain seated, pray at your seat or join others around the altar, as you wish.
We often celebrate Communion (the Lord's Supper) during the worship service. If you've chosen to follow Christ as your Savior, you are encouraged to share in this time of worship, reflection and celebration with us. You don't have to be a member of First Assembly to participate.
Pastor Tom preaches relevant, Biblical messages designed to strengthen your walk with God, help you grow spiritually, and reach your God-given potential.
WHAT ABOUT THE OFFERING?
We place no expectation for our guests to contribute an offering. The offering bag is for the convenience of the First Assembly church family to worship through giving. If you choose to worship in giving, it's entirely up to you.
WHAT SHOULD I DO AFTER SERVICE?
We ask that you take a moment to allow our church family to greet you and express their joy at having you worship with us. Please fill out the Guest Card located in the guest packet and place it in the offering bag, hand it to an usher or the pastor. That will give us the information we need to send you a letter or an email. Don't worry, we won't be pushy, nosey or badger you with unwanted contacts.
